Foreclosure-related filings dropped substantially in Ohio and Michigan last month, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an Irvine, Calif., firm that tracks foreclosure data.
There were 8,598 Ohio properties in various stages of foreclosure in February, or one of every 592 homes. That’s down 4 percent from January and nearly 24 percent from a year ago. Michigan had 14,003 properties with foreclosure-related filings last month, one of every 324 homes, down 16 percent from January and 30 percent from a year ago.
Nationally, there were 225,101 foreclosure-related filings in February, down 14 percent from January and 27 percent from February, 2010.
