Zion Lutheran Church in Waterville, 22 North Second St., will open its doors for prayer and meditation from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in observance of the National Day of Prayer, with members of six Waterville churches participating.
The theme of the 54th Annual National Day of Prayer is "God Shed His Grace on Thee," and the focus is on "five points of prayer": government, media, education, church, and family.
Also participating in the National Day of Prayer will be Garden Park Christian Church, 8605 Salisbury Rd., Monclova Township, which will host a Concert of Prayer at 7 p.m. The special guest will be Lt. Col. Tim Sonnenberg, intallation chaplain for the 180th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard. The 16th Annual National Day of Prayer breakfast Thursday morning at Gladieux Meadows and featuring astronaut Charlie Duke, one of 12 men who walked on the moon, is sold out.
