MILAN, Mich. York Baptist Church will celebrate its 175th anniversary with a concert featuring The Anchormen at 6 p.m. Aug. 11, and special anniversary services at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug. 12 with former pastors speaking.
The church, originally called Mooreville Baptist Church, was started in 1832 by 10 settlers who came from New York. They acquired property, built a log cabin, and changed the name to York Baptist Church in 1834. Two years later, they built a new church across the road, the current site of York Baptist. In addition to the Sunday services on Aug. 12, there will be a dinner at 11:30 a.m.
