Christmas calendar filled with events

As we open the calendar to December today, the page is filled with holiday-related activities and events. Below is a list of many Advent and Christmas-related activities sponsored by area churches in the coming weeks:

•Interfaith Nativity Festival, featuring more than 500 Nativity sets from around the world and music for the season, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today; 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11050 Avenue Rd., Perrysburg.

•"A World of Christmas" cantata, 4 p.m. tomorrow, Reformation Lutheran Church, 4543 Douglas Rd.

•Live Nativity with costumed characters and animals, 6:30-8:30 p.m. tomorrow, St. Francis Community Campus, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, Ohio

•Service of Lessons and Carols, featuring nearly 100 college students singing carols and anthems of the season, 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Adrian College Chapel, Adrian, Mich.

•Watoto Children's Choir, 7 p.m. tomorrow, Pilgrim Church, 1375 West Sylvania Ave.

•Christmas Handbell Concert, 7:15 p.m. tomorrow, Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St.

•Advent Services, 7 p.m. Wednesday and Dec. 12 and 19, Community of Christ Lutheran Church, 6517 Finzel Rd., Whitehouse.

•"The Infancy Narratives of Matthew and Luke: A Study of the Scriptural Account of the Christmas Story," presented by the Rev. Charles Singler, 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and Dec. 12, parish activities room, Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd.

•"The Sweet Christmas Story," Women's Ecumenical Christmas Service and Buffet, registration begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave.

•Watoto Children's Choir, 7 p.m. Thursday, Holland Free Methodist Church, 6605 Angola Rd., Holland, Ohio.

•"J.B.," an award-winning drama by Archibald MacLeish based on the biblical story of Job, featuring University of Michigan football stars, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Dec. 8, and 2 p.m. Dec. 9, Power Center, 121 Fletcher, Ann Arbor, Mich. Tickets: 734-764-2538.

•The Clarence Smith Community Chorus Christmas Concert, 6 p.m. Dec. 9, St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1119 Bancroft St.

•"Christmas: A Night of Dreams and Visions," live music and drama, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9, CedarCreek Church, 29129 Lime City Rd. Admission: One canned good for area food pantries.

•"Our Great God," 68th Annual Christmas Program, featuring adult, brass, and student choirs, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 West Ottawa St., Oak Harbor.

•"Here We Come a-Caroling," with Sylvania Women's Connection West, 9:15 a.m. Dec. 14, Sylvania Country Club, 5201 Corey Rd., Sylvania. $12 includes brunch. Reservations due by Dec. 11, 419-472-8749.
