The Bishop's Bike Ride, in which Ohio Episcopal Bishop Mark Hollingsworth led a cross-country relay-team bicycle ride, raised more than $35,000 for insecticide-treated nets in Africa.
The bikers, including the Rev. Kelly O'Connell of St. Mark's, Toledo, left on the last day of the Episcopal Convention in Anaheim, Calif., on July 17 and pedaled 4,000 miles, arriving at the denomination's headquarters in New York City on July 28.
Donations for the nets, which are being distributed in 17 African nations, are still being accepted online at www.dohio.org.
