Black composers to be featured at cathedral

“A Journey Through the Life of African Americans” will be presented by soprano Margaret Barron at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd.

The program will feature music by black composers Adolphus Hailstork and Margaret Bonds, traditional spirituals, and “Condomble” by Bruno Bjlinsky. Ms. Barron will be accompanied by pianist Timothy Cheek.

Mr. Barron, a Toledo resident, has studied, performed, and taught throughout Europe. In 2005, she was invited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Toledo and Szeged, Hungary.

Admission is free; a free-will offering will be taken. The concert is cosponsored by the Toledo Diocesan Office of Black Catholic Ministry.
