Quilt ministry to aid Joplin tornado recovery
Quilts of Compassion, a Sylvania Township-based ministry, plans its fourth trip to Joplin, Mo., Feb. 29 to pass out quilts and help the city recover from the May, 2011, tornado that killed more than 150 people.
Janice Grimes, founder and executive director of Quilts of Compassion, said the group hopes to have 400 quilts made in time to take to Joplin. She asked anyone interested in helping make quilts or donate materials to call her at 419-708-9343. No quilting experience is necessary.
