Dogs, cats, birds, snakes, pocket pets, and other critters will take part this week in the annual Blessing of the Animals at 2:45 p.m. Thursday on the steps of the St. Joseph Community Center.
Hundreds of St. Joseph School students, parishioners, and more than 30 animals will be involved in this traditional remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. Each year, Oct. 4 is recognized as the Feast day of St. Francis.
The Rev. Keith Stripe, St. Joseph Church’s pastor, will host a short prayer service before the blessings.
