Look for some good gospel reactions from the audience at the Glass City Gospel Celebration on Sunday when Dorinda Clark-Cole sings.

“A person of that caliber — I’m not trying to be funny — we don’t usually have a lot of people like that coming to our city,” producer Mark Williams said. “So I do like to make noise about it. When she leaves here, I know she’s going to leave something very powerful in our city.”

Mrs. Clark-Cole, the second-youngest of the Clark Sisters and known as the Rose of Gospel, is the headliner for the gospel celebration coming to River of Life Church, 3611 Upton Ave., Sunday at 6 p.m. She has received plenty of TV exposure recently, with a performance on BET’s Celebration of Gospel 2013, appearances on BET’s reality show The Sheards, which follows the steps in gospel and church of her sister Karen Clark-Sheard’s family, and host of The Dorinda Show on TCT.

“Not to be biased, but Dorinda is a gospel legend,” said Mark Williams, a producer of the gospel celebration, adding that she has won a Stellar award and a Dove award.

She also is four-time Grammy award winner, and has won the Trumpet award and the Soul Train music award, producer Yuseff Woods added.

“She’s a gospel legend. Just to have her here, that’s icing on the cake” for a festival with other national figures in gospel as well as local performers, Mr. Williams said.

Mrs. Clark-Cole recently appointed Mr. Williams and Mr. Woods as her national project managers. In that role, Mr. Woods said, “We’re going to be making a very important announcement” about an August event in Toledo.

Also on the bill Sunday night for the concert by WRW productions — the two W’s are Mr. Williams and Mr. Woods, and the R is Lisa Rice, now the vice president of the National Fair Housing Alliance in Washington, D.C. are national artist Javen from Los Angeles; Keith Dobbins, formerly of Toledo but who now lives in Atlanta, and several performers from the Toledo area. The celebration will be hosted by Joetta McCrutter-Polk of Mansfield, described by Mr. Woods as an “up-and-coming” artist.

“The gospel scene is really picking up here,” Mr. Woods said. “You have more national artists that want to come to our city now because they hear about all the good, nice talent that we have.” Among the local talent on the bill: Debra Brock and the Mt. Nebo Choir. Mrs. Brock is the first lady of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, a new group called Water, God’s Chosen Vessels, and the New Spiritual Aires.

“They’re community groups,” Mr. Woods said. “They work together from different churches.”

The Rev. Nadine Larde’ of Toledo’s Massive Praise International Worship Center will deliver an exhortation of praise. “We never know when we come here how things might flow,” Mr. Woods said. “One time we had to put the preacher up first before all the singers. This is not for show or for prestige; this is what we’ve been doing for over 20 years, bringing in good gospel artists and good gospel events here in the community. We believe that the more you bring, and the more you bring good, positive music like this, I believe it can help in the community and in the city and the region to help change, because what people lean to is music. Gospel music is a very strong driving force.”

Mr. Woods is director of marketing at River of Life Church. Mr. Williams is minister of music at the church and is also the national minister of music of New Destiny Fellowship International. Bishop John Williams, Mr. Williams’s brother, is pastor of River of Life Church.
