United Auto Workers Local 14 reached a tentative agreement yesterday with management at General Motors Corp.'s Toledo Powertrain transmission plant, union officials said.
The agreement, which affects about 3,500 workers, deals with working conditions and the environment at the plant. “We feel great about the contract,” Burt Wagner, shop chairman for Local 14, said.
The union plans to vote on the agreement in the next seven to 10 days, Local 14 President Oscar Bunch said. At the same time, the union will vote on a national UAW contract that establishes wages and benefits.
