Strawberries to be king in Holland

Strawberries, red and ripe, will be the featured attraction during the annual festival in Holland next week.

The Holland Strawberry Festival, which was first held in 1938, also will have amusement rides, entertainment, a parade, a bake-off, toddler and queen pageants, a baseball tournament, and a three-mile run.

The event will be at the Community Homecoming Park along Angola Road from 4 to 11 p.m. June 16 and June 17; 4 to midnight June 18, and from noon to midnight June 19 and June 20.

The Strawberry Festival is hosted and organized by the Community Homecoming Corp., a nonprofit that sponsors annual events for the Holland and Springfield Township communities.

Parking is $3.
