Monclova museum to open at community center

A ribbon-cutting is to take place at 5 p.m. Aug. 10 for the new Principal’s Office Museum and Gift Shop as part of the Monclova Historical Foundation’s collection.

The museum is at the Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Rd. Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on select Saturdays. Other hours are by special request. Those interested in volunteering as museum guides are urged to contact the community center at 419-861-1336.

The former Monclova School Building, which houses the Monclova Community Center, will mark its centennial from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11. The 100th birthday party is to feature entertainment, food, carriage rides, a parade, and a silent auction at the community center.

Proceeds are to go toward an additional parking lot for the center.
