NW Ohio youth workers can apply for grants

Organizations that work with young people in northwest Ohio are invited to submit grant proposals to Youth In Philanthropy Encouraging Excellence (YIPEE).

The typical YIPEE grant is $900, and organizations wishing to apply for a grant must do so online at leadershiptoledo.org/yipee/grant. The deadline is Feb. 8.

The funds are raised by YIPEE members — high school students who devote time during their junior and senior years to planning fund-raising events, securing corporate donations, and making personal contributions. Students from Northwood, Lake, Cardinal Stritch, St. Ursula Academy, Eastwood, Waite, Swanton, Springfield, Southview, Notre Dame Academy, Toledo Christian, Anthony Wayne, Maumee, Evergreen, Clay, and Perrysburg are among those who take part.

Students established a 2013 goal of raising $20,000. The grants will be awarded in May.
