YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A coroner is investigating the death of a northeast Ohio cheerleader who collapsed at practice and died.

Jabraya Howell of Youngstown's East High School collapsed during after-school practice on Wednesday, a day before her 17th birthday. She was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

The Mahoning County coroner's office is investigating.

Superintendent Wendy Webb says grief counselors were assigned to schools Thursday morning to deal with student concerns.
