Girl, 17, injured in Middletown skydiving accident

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Authorities say a 17-year-old skydiver who failed to straighten out was seriously hurt when she hit the ground too hard near a baseball diamond in Middletown.

Witnesses have told police that the girl's parachute opened properly but that she continued to turn in the air Sunday afternoon instead of straightening out.

She has been taken to a hospital in Dayton. Her condition wasn't available early Monday.
