Area agencies share in $15.1M in state grants

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Development has awarded more than $15.1 million in grants from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund to government agencies and nonprofit organizations that help the poor with housing needs.

The largest of the northwest Ohio grants was $440,000 to the Findlay Hope House for the Homeless Inc.

Other local agencies receiving Homeless Assistance grants were:

  • Defiance County: Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission, Inc., $150,100.
  • Lucas County: Beach House Inc., $171,100; Catholic Charities, Diocese of Toledo, $201,900; Harbor House/300 Beds Inc., $82,900; Neighborhood Properties Inc., $275,000, and Toledo Community Service Center, $352,000.
  • Ottawa County: Ottawa County Transitional Housing, $121,000.
  • Sandusky County: Liberty Center of Sandusky County, $173,200.
  • Van Wert County: YWCA of Van Wert, $179,700.
