Ohio patrol reports 13 traffic fatalities over New Year's weekend
COLUMBUS — The State Highway Patrol says it was a deadlier New Year’s weekend on Ohio roads.
Troopers said Tuesday that crashes killed 13 people in the state from Friday through Monday. That’s up from 10 fatalities during a similar period a year ago.
The patrol says nearly half the recent victims were not wearing safety belts. Col. John Born, the highway patrol’s superintendent, says in a statement that buckling up is the best way to be protected in an accident.
