Survey: About half of Ohioans confident about Social Security, Medicare for retirement

ASSOCIATED PRESS

COLUMBUS — About 46 percent of adults surveyed in Ohio are confident Social Security will be there for them throughout retirement and 56 percent are confident they’ll benefit from Medicare.

The survey was conducted for AARP Ohio for a Monday event in Columbus to help kick off a nationwide AARP “You’ve Earned a Say” campaign aimed at increasing conversation about health and retirement security. Those attending will link via satellite feed with others in Virginia, Florida and Colorado.

AARP Ohio President Mike Barnhart says volunteers will work throughout the year “to ensure that Ohioans get the say they earned.”

The survey of 500 Ohioans 18 and older was conducted from Feb. 6 to March 1 by Woelfel Research Inc. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
