GROVEPORT, Ohio — More than 40 Air National Guard members from central Ohio have been honored for their heroic service in Bahrain and Afghanistan.
WBNS-TV reports that the members of the 121st Air Refueling Wing were welcomed home Sunday after a 9-month mission. Some served as firefighters to protect the Isa Air base in Bahrain and others performed security functions at the Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
They included Master Sgt. Troy Taylor, who was awarded a bronze star for helping to evacuate five wounded soldiers from a downed helicopter. Staff Sgt. Steven Nace received the same honor for administering first aid to wounded men after a suicide bomber attack.
