Students protest Strongsville teacher strike

ASSOCIATED PRESS

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio  — Some students in a northeast Ohio school district are showing their displeasure with a strike that's keeping teachers out of the classrooms.

Around two dozen Strongsville students, some holding signs, demonstrated outside the board of education office Tuesday night in the suburb southwest of Cleveland.

Some of the students said they were protesting an announcement by the high school principal warning them about the content of postings on social media sites about the strike. Others said they didn't feel safe with replacement teachers.

The strike over salary and working conditions entered its third day today, embroiling close to 400 teachers. Classes are being conducted by substitutes in the district of about 6,300 students.

No new talks have been scheduled.
