Shefield Lake fire department dive team found body of the 21-year-old Lorain man.
SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio — Authorities say a man has drowned near a Lake Erie boat launch in northeast Ohio after disappearing in the waters along a beach break wall.
A statement from the Sheffield Lake Fire Department says firefighters were called to the Sheffield Lake boat launch on Lake Erie around 10:30 Tuesday night for a possible drowning. Police were already searching the water from the shore.
Authorities say a dive team found the body of the 21-year-old Lorain man around 11:30 p.m. His name wasn’t immediately released.
Bystanders told authorities that the man had been with some other people and had waded into water near a break wall.
The U.S. Coast Guard also assisted in the search.
