ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK — U.S. stock markets closed higher on Wall Street today, bolstered by strong earnings from companies like Nike.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 90 points, or 0.6 percent, to 14,512 at the close of trading.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 11 points, or 0.7 percent, to 1,556. The Nasdaq rose 22 points, or 0.7 percent, 3,245.
