Toledo native Adrianne Palicki will be the next Wonder Woman.

Warner Bros. Television announced Thursday that the 27-year-old Friday Night Lights actress will take on the iconic role made popular in the 1970s by Lynda Carter in an NBC pilot for the show. She will play the character of Diana Prince, and the script will be penned by Boston Legal writer David E. Kelly, according to a news release.

The show featuring the Whitmer High School graduate apparently will be considerably different than the somewhat goofy earlier version.

“The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life,” the company said in a statement.
