You have heard their voices on radio and seen their faces on TV. Now The Blade goes behind the scenes to introduce you to your favorite media personalities. Stay Tuned appears the third Monday of every month.

Steven J. Athanas (aka The Wolf Dude).

First job: My dad got me a job when I was in sixth grade, pulling weeds for a friend of his. I didn't last the day because of the bees. Probably the first time I let my pa down.

First salary: 50 cents an hour (didn't take the money).

My idol is: I am enamored with the works of John Lennon, Captain Beefheart, Leonardo da Vinci, and Erika Lopez.

Position:Making nights howl as a DJ (also, lead singer of the Homewreckers, visual artist, freelance writer and substitute teacher ... just tryin’ to keep the lights on).

Station: WPFX-FM, 107.7, The Wolf. Timeslot Monday through Friday 6 p.m. to midnight.

Age: 59.

Hometown: Toledo.

Education: University of Toledo and DeVilbiss High School.

Family: My ma and pa are blessedly still on the planet, three brothers and two sons (Michael and Sam) who are all the center of my universe ... oh yeah, and my dog Ghoti (pronounced “Fish”).

Most embarrassing radio moment: I've been behind a microphone (bands, radio, etc.) for over 40 years. Self-deprecation is healthy for growth.

Highlight of my career: Whaddya, kiddin'? I ain't done yet!

My favorite thing to do outside of work: I have a studio in my house, and I am busy re-inventing myself as a visual artist (www.bluecanvas.com/ath311).

I think Toledo's best-kept secret is: My Wolf Country Request Show on Saturday nights. While most radio stations are not live and local, I'm here to tell ya we are. I keep playing the classic country and current hits plus 50 minutes of music an hour that includes listener requests.

People may be surprised to know that I: am surprised at what surprises people.

In five years, I see myself: Pretty much doin' what I'm doin' now, God willin' and the creek don't rise.

My dream job is: To be a visual artist who doesn't have to die to get recognized.
