FOX Toledo Daybreak is getting an extension.
Beginning Sept. 3, WUPW-TV, Channel 36, is adding an hour to its morning newscast. Anchored by Ashley James with meteorologists Ryan Wichman and Kimberly Newman, FOX Toledo Daybreak will run from 7 to 9 a.m. weekdays.
"In our effort to bring more news to viewers at times where they don't have news right now, we are expanding our FOX Toledo Daybreak to two hours," said C.J. Hoyt, newsdirector for WUPW and WTOL-TV, Channel 36. "The second hour will be similar to our very successful Your Day on WTOL, with a mix of news headlines, forecasts, and interviews with news makers and people from the community."
Also, WTOL reporter Matt Wright, who had been with the station since August, 2010, is no longer employed at Channel 11. His contract expired and he wanted to take "some time to explore new opportunities."
"I have enjoyed my time at the station, and it has been an honor to serve the Toledo audience," Wright said.
