Monroe Public Access Television names executive director

Milward Beaudry, interim director of Monroe Public Access Television, has been appointed executive director.

Mr. Beaudry, a 25-year veteran of Detroit radio and an adjunct instructor in radio and television at Monroe County Community College, succeeds Bill LaVoy, who resigned after being elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. Mr. Beaudry’s annual salary is $45,000. He had been interim director since December.

Mr. Beaudry has been employed at MPACT for eight years as program director/coordinator. He holds an associate’s degree from the community college, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and a master’s degree from the University of Toledo.

MPACT has studios in the Benesh Building at West Fifth and South Monroe streets, where it produces and broadcasts shows of local interest. It also operates a low-power, noncommercial radio station, WYDM 97.5 FM.

The nonprofit MPACT governing board has representatives from the city of Monroe, the community college, Monroe County Intermediate School District, the Monroe County Library System, Monroe Public Schools, and the community.
