The University of Toledo baseball team is one win away from the Mid-American Conference championship game after a 7-6 victory over Eastern Michigan that ended early Friday morning in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Sophomore pitcher Matt Kuna (5-2) allowed two runs on five hits with a career-high seven strikeouts to earn the victory. The Rockets won back-to-back league tourney games for the first time since 1982.
UT will play the winner of the Eastern Michigan and Ohio elimination game Friday at 7:30 p.m. If the Rockets win, they advance to the MAC championship game Saturday at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe. A loss would mean a rematch between the teams on Saturday and the winner of that game would play in the championship.
