Naama Shafir posted 27 points and seven assists, Melissa Goodall added 16 points and eight rebounds, and the University of Toledo women's basketball defeated Akron 74-68 Wednesday night in front of 2,232 at Savage Arena without senior co-captains Allie Clifton (foot) and Tanika Mays (knee).
Lisa Johnson, also a senior co-captain, chipped in with 12 points for her second straight game in double figures, as the Rockets (19-5, 9-2 Mid-American Conference) battled back from a five-point deficit in the first half.
Jolene Tamboue led the Zips (14-10, 8-3) with 21 points.
