EDINBURG, Texas -- Toledo men's basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk will not coach in Saturday's game against USC-Upstate because of a stomach flu virus, and associate head coach Angres Thorpe will fill in.
Saturday's contest is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
“I wish I could be out there for our team, but I didn’t want to take the risk of any of our players getting sick,” Kowalczyk said. “We have four games in four days this weekend, and we’re using just an eight-man rotation. It’s important that everyone on our team stays as healthy as possible.”
Toledo fell to Texas State Friday night in a 94-91 shootout. The Rockets will face Texas-Pan American at 8 p.m. Sunday and Victory (Tenn.) University at 8 p.m. Monday at 8:00 p.m.
