UT adds two football assistants

BLADE STAFF

University of Toledo football coach Matt Campbell announced the addition of D.K. McDonald and Bryce Saia to the Rockets' staff on Wednesday. McDonald, who most recently coached at Williams & Mary, will serve as the cornerbacks coach. Saia, who was the defensive coordinator at Emporia State, will coach the safeties.

McDonald and Saia will coach at the FBS level for the first time. McDonald, a native of Orrville, Ohio, has worked at Edinboro (2003-05), Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2006-10) and William & Mary (2011).

Prior to coming to Emporia State in 2009, Saia was defensive line coach and special teams coordinator for the Arizona Rattlers from 2007-08. He was defensive line coach at Southern Illinois from 2004-07 where he worked with current UT defensive coordinator Tom Matukewicz.

The addition of McDonald and Saia completes the UT staff. Campbell and his staff will get their first chance to work with the team on March 14, the first day of spring practice. The annual Blue and Gold spring game will be on Friday, April 13.
