University of Toledo junior distance runner Emma Kertesz set a new all-time Mid-American Conference record in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational last weekend.
Her time of 33:28.58 qualifies her for the USA Olympic Trials this summer in Eugene, Ore., as well as the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Jacksonville, Fla. Kertesz finished 25th and was named the MAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Also turning in a strong performance at 10,000 meters was sophomore Megan Vogelsong. Vogelsong was well under the former school record (Katherine Smyth's 34:43.10 in 2000) with her NCAA qualifying performance of 34:15.00. Vogelsong's time is the sixth-fastest time in MAC history.
