Fluellen's 213 rushing yards pace Toledo en route to big win over W. Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. ---  The Rockets played a brilliant first quarter to jump start a 37-17 win at Western Michigan.

In racing out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter, Toledo outgained the Broncos 259-14, picked up 12 first downs to zero, and harassed stand-in quarterback Tyler Van Tubbergen into three three-and-outs to start the game.

The Rockets, 4-1 for the first time since 2005, got 213 rushing yards from David Fluellen, three field goals from Jeremiah Detmer, and a defensive touchdown from reserve cornerback Jordan Haden.

THIRD QUARTER

Toledo leads 34-17 heading into the fourth quarter.

Jordan Haden picked off a pass and ran 63 yards for Toledo's first defensive score of the season. David Fluellen punched in his third rushing TD of the night on a 22-yarder.

HALFTIME

Toledo leads 20-7 at halftime.

The Rockets went ahead 20-0 on Jeremiah Detmer's second field goal of the night, a 28-yarder. An illegal shift penalty wiped out an Alonzo Russell touchdown reception earlier in the drive.

Western Michigan struck back with Tyler Van Tubbergen beating the blitz of Trent Voss and delivering a 22-yard TD strike to Jaime Wilson.

Rockets defensive end T.J. Fatinikun left early with a lower body injury and has not returned.
