Rian Pearson led the Toledo men's basketball team with 20 points in an 86-72 loss to Ball State today at Savage Arena.
Matt Smith added 16 points for Toledo, while Jauwan Scaife led Ball State with 28 points. The Cardinals took a 42-38 lead at halftime, and used a 13-0 run in the second half to stretch its lead. The Rockets cut the Cardinals' lead to 71-69 on Dominique Buckley's 3-pointer with 5:02 left, but Ball State (13-14, 6-8 Mid-American Conference) outscored Toledo 15-3 down the stretch to ensure the win.
Ball State outrebounded Toledo 44 to 24.
The Rockets (13-13, 8-6) host Northern Illinois at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Savage Arena, then close the regular season March 9 at 7 p.m. at Eastern Michigan.
