University of Toledo senior Yolanda Richardson was recognized as the final Mid-American Conference West division player of the week by the league office today. Richardson’s selection marks the conference-best eighth time this season that a Rocket has been picked as the division’s top performer.
The Start graduate finished with 14 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and three blocked shots in a home win over Ball State on Wednesday. Richardson shot 7-of-9 from the field in 27 minutes to help the Rockets extend their win streak to 15 consecutive games. The 2011-12 second-team All-MAC selection scored in double figures for a 12th time this season, fourth-highest total on the team, pulled down double-digit rebounds for a second-consecutive game and a team-high fifth time overall and blocked at least three shots for a squad-best eighth time.
