Legendary University of Toledo men's basketball coach Bob Nichols died Saturday.

He was 82.

Nichols collapsed Thursday while walking in Toledo, according to one of his former players.

Nichols (377-211) is the winningest coach in Mid-American Conference history. He won five MAC titles in a 22-year career that ended in 1987. Nichols was MAC coach of the year three times.

Nichols lettered three years as a Rockets player and captained the 1952-53 team.
