Alaska's Scott Gomez beat out teammate Chris Minard in the voting of ECHL coaches for the league's most valuable player.
Gomez, a left wing, led the ECHL in scoring with 86 points (his 73 assists also topped the league) in 61 games. Minard led the ECHL with 49 goals and had 78 points in 69 games.
Carl Mallette of the Toledo Storm was fifth in the voting. For the season, Mallette had 30 goals and 50 assists for 80 points in 64 games.
Goalies Frederic Cloutier of Pensacola (32-12-3 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage) and Frank Doyle of Idaho (32-13-4 with a 2.16 GAA and a .916 save percentage) tied for third in the MVP voting.
