Cyclones defeat Storm in Cincy 3-1

CINCINNATI - The Toledo Storm fell here yesterday 3-1 to the Cincinnati Cyclones.

After a scoreless first period, Toledo found itself trailing as Cincinnati (27-18-4) cracked the scoreboard first at 6:40 of the second when newly acquired Mike Wirll collected his 34th goal of the year.

Toledo (25-21-1) would respond as newcomer John Thomas collected a loose puck behind the Cyclones net and beat Dov Grumet-Morris at 14:54 on a wraparound to tie the game at 1.

The unassisted goal was Thomas' first in a Storm uniform.

The Cyclones would regain the lead before the end of the second when Travis Lisabeth collected his 14th of the year at the 18:00 mark.

Scott Reynolds would add an empty net goal at 19:34 of the third to finish out the game. Ervins Mustukovs (3-3-0) made 26 saves in his sixth start of the season for the Storm.

Grumet-Morris made 22 saves to collect his first win against Toledo this season.

Cincinnati outshot the Storm 29-23, and Toledo finished 0-4 with the man advantage, which snapped a five-game streak of power-play goals.

Toledo returns home to play host to the Wheeling Nailers on Feb. 28.
