TARTA to run shuttles for Walleye games

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will operate shuttle buses for Toledo Walleye hockey games similar to those it has run for the Toledo Mud Hens, although from fewer locations.

Starting Oct. 16, the new hockey team's debut at Lucas County Arena, TARTA buses will operate to and from all Walleye home games from six park-and-ride lots in metro Toledo. Buses will leave an hour before games are scheduled to start and return 20 minutes after they end.

Fares will be $1 each way. Shuttles will serve the Lucas County Recreation Center's north parking lot in Maumee, the River Place Shopping Center in Perrysburg, St. Joseph Church in Sylvania, Waterville Plaza, and the Miracle Mile and Westgate Sears park-and-ride lots in Toledo.

Muddy Shuttles have served 13 locations. James Gee, the transit authority's general manager, said the six best-performing Muddy Shuttle locations were chosen for Walleye service as a cost-cutting step.
