The Toledo Walleye have unveiled a new-look Web site that features improved functionality that, the team says, give fans the experience of being at a Walleye hockey game.
The updated web site debuted on Monday afternoon. Visitors to ToledoWalleye.com will notice eye-catching design and images that greet them on each page. A video featuring action on the ice at the Huntington Center appears on the home page.
“The full screen video people see when they land on the home page allows them to experience the thrills and fun of Walleye hockey,” said Nathan Steinmetz, the team's digital editor manager.
The re-design was done by Toledo advertising agency Madhouse.
Tabs and links are designed for visitors to easily navigate through the site to find information on tickets, promotions, dining options, merchandise, and the team.
The site showcases the game schedule in multiple versions with the ability to download and print the schedule. The fan tab also offers direct links to listen and watch games live online.
Bill Sattler of Madhouse said the new Walleye site sets it apart from the rest of the teams in the ECHL.
“We wanted to build a responsive, mobile-ready site that would live up to the Walleye brand,” Sattler said.
The upgrade emphasizes ease of use on mobile devices.
The 2013-14 Walleye season is on Oct. 19 at Fort Wayne. The home-opener is on Oct. 26 against Wheeling.
FUND-RAISER: The Walleye players and coaches will participate in a golf charity event on Sept. 21.
The second annual Fellowship Matters golf outing will take place at Giant Oak Golf Course in Temperance, Mich.
Coach Nick Vitucci and his wife Dawn have been involved with the local charity group that provides meals on a weekly basis for the homeless in downtown Toledo.
“My position as the coach has humbly allowed me to help and assist with different programs here in Toledo that are more important than just wins and losses,” Vitucci said. “[Fellowship Matters] is a great cause and is one that our players participate in during the course of the season.”
The golf outing features a shotgun, four-member team format. Cost is $60, which includes a cart and dinner. Hole sponsorships also are available.
