Walleye forward Dane Walters, who scored five goals against the Indy Fuel on Saturday, was named the ECHL player of the week on Tuesday.
Walters, who tied a Walleye record for goals scored in a game, earned the award for April 3-9. Walters also had an assist in Toledo’s 10-0 win against the Fuel, and he tied another franchise record with his six-point performance.

The 28-year-old also had a goal and an assist in Toledo’s 6-1 win at Fort Wayne on April 5.
In the regular season, the native of St. Paul had 21 goals and 17 assists for a career-best 38 points.
Other Walleye players who won the league honor this season are Simon Denis (Feb. 6-12), Jacob MacDonald (Dec. 5-11), and Kyle Bonis (Oct. 10-16).
The Walleye open the Kelly Cup playoffs on Friday. They host Kalamazoo in Game 1 of the Central Division semifinals.
