What would a carnival for youngsters be without some good old fashioned face painting? So for the spirit of the day, Daviana Aston, 5, sits still as Katie Breyier, 12, uses her cheek as a canvas. In the background, 14-month-old Nana Aston admires the handiwork.

It was all part of the Augsburg Lutheran Church's carnival last week. Elsewhere at the church, 1342 Sylvania Ave., Kirsten Lisinski, 7, finds the squeal of air released from a balloon a little grating. All sorts of other games and activities made the day complete.
