Nick Francis, a sophomore from Sylvania, plans to study for a degree in engineering. His favorite subjects are math and science, and he has a 4.57 grade-point average.
Nick was selected to be the representative from Toledo Technology Academy to the 2008 HOBY, a youth leadership development organization, and he is a member of the Alternative Energies Team and Science Olympiad. He has studied piano for 10 years and plays the guitar and drums. He is a Life Scout, soon to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, and holds a black belt in martial arts.
"Nick thinks about what he is going to say before he shares his thoughts," said teacher Louise Lowenstein. "When he finally expresses his ideas, they are worthy of attention. His wide range of interests gives him a unique perspective on ... literature and the applications of technology. As a student, Nick is a pleasure and a challenge."
Nick is the son of Randy and Jim Francis.
