I got an email this morning from Nate McCray, an agent at Dynasty Sports Management who is representing former University of Toledo hoopster Jerrah Young. He said Young has signed a one-year deal with the UCC Demons in Cork, Ireland. He reports to training camp on Aug. 26.
McCray said when Young played at the Eurobasket Summer League in Chicago earlier this summer, teams from Germany and England also wanted to sign him. They thought the UCC Demons were the best fit because the coach, Douglas Leichner, was previously coaching in the U.S. at the University of Maine.
Those of you who follow UT hoops know as well as I do the determination Young showed in battling for rebounds and position this past season, as well as showing patience waiting until his senior year to see a lot of playing time. I hope he enjoys the opportunity and gets the most out of it. I've been to Cork and it's a very quaint, but cool, town.
