U.S. consumers will get an opportunity to avoid some solicitations from financial institutions under new rules approved by federal bank regulators.
Banks obtaining information about an affiliate s customers will be prohibited from soliciting them about their own products once they ve opted out, according to regulations announced yesterday by the Federal Reserve and four other bank regulatory agencies. The rules go into effect on Jan. 1.
