Report says new iPhone Verizon-compatible
SEATTLE — A report says Apple Inc. is preparing to manufacture an iPhone that works on cellular networks based on CDMA technology, a move that would allow the phones to be used by more carriers, including Verizon Wireless.
Lowell McAdam, head of Verizon Wireless, yesterday downplayed the possibility of an iPhone on Verizon's current network. Verizon expects one later for Verizon's newer, faster network.
Sprint Nextel Corp. also used the CDMA technology.
