U.S. assistance offered for hail-damaged farms

Businesses in five counties in northwest Ohio may be eligible for new federal assistance if they experienced financial loss because of the hail that struck on July 1.

The Small Business Administration will make available federal, low-interest disaster loans to agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture businesses, most private nonprofit organizations, and small business owners in Erie, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood counties that were affected by the severe weather.

Individuals and businesses may apply online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. For more information, call 1-800-659-2955 or send an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can also be downloaded from www.sba.gov.

The deadline to apply for aid is May 6.
