4-month strike at Lima oil refinery is over

Workers will go back next week under old contract

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LIMA, Ohio — A four-month strike at an oil refinery in northern Ohio appears to be over.

Officials from Husky Energy Inc. have accepted an offer from workers to return to the job at the refinery in Lima.

The Lima News reports that about 240 striking workers will start work on Monday. A union official says workers will go back now under their old contract.

Some 240 employees at the plant who are represented by United Steel Workers Local 624 have been striking since May 25 over safety issues and working conditions.

Production at the refinery has continued during the strike, with salaried employees doing the jobs of union members.

The refinery puts out 155,000 barrels of oil a day.
