Politicians, union reps vow fight to keep Wrangler
With the type of fiery speeches and rich, down-home imagery usually reserved for the campaign trail, a number of Toledo-area politicians and union leaders promised Monday to do all they could to persuade Jeep’s parent company to keep building the Wrangler here. “There is no bigger issue right now in Toledo than this,” Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins told The Blade. “We as a city have defined ourselves as Jeep, and Jeep has been defined as Toledo. The history of Jeep is pretty obvious. It’s been a stalwart of this community.
