Owens-Illinois Inc. is cutting 23 jobs from its Perrysburg headquarters campus over the next two years as it consolidates work to an existing facility in Colombia. The move will also affect a yet to be determined number of employees in Mexico.
In an email, a spokesman for the glass packaging manufacturer said most of the jobs to be eliminated have duties in processing business and financial transactions. O-I this year also cut 28 jobs from its information technology department in Perrysburg. Some of that work moved to the company’s IT center in Poznan, Poland. The company said the moves are related to efforts to reorganize some of its services that are shared across the company.
The Fortune 500 glass bottle maker says it employs nearly 900 people in northwest Ohio.
