Williams County collision claims Archbold resident

BRYAN - A 61-year-old Arch|bold man died yesterday after his pickup truck collided with another pickup on U.S. 6, east of Williams County Road 9.

Earl J. Riegsecker, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo. The other driver, Terry W. Hendricks, 42, of Pioneer, Ohio, was treated at Williams County Community Hospital, Bryan.

The Ohio Highway Patrol in De|fiance said Mr. Hendricks was eastbound at 8:53 a.m. on U.S. 6 when he lost control of his pickup when he attempted to slow on icy roads for another vehicle turning into a private driveway. Mr. Hen|d|ricks slid sideways into the roadway, striking Mr. Riegsecker's westbound vehicle head-on.

U.S. 6 was closed for about 1 1/2 hours.
